The Eye of the Storm

Eye Magazine was a short-lived counterculture focused magazine which began in March 1968. It appealed largely to college students and it covered fashion, music, and politics. It nearly always had a large pull-out poster of a famous person or art, on one occasion a comic, and once even a record. It was a large magazine, formatted like Life, and had tons of color pictures and articles. Jim Morrison even wrote an article for the magazine. Some say that Eye is a prime example of consumerism cashing in on the youth boom, but some find the magazine to bring back opulent memories. Fifteen issues were published before its end in May 1969.

THANK YOU!!

I am a big fan of Eye magazine and a modest Eye mag collector myself, but even the issues I own (the John Lennon cover for example) no longer had the amazing insert in the middle-- it is very rare to buy and Eye mag with the poster inserted in the middle still in place. It has been hard to find info and scans of Eye issues so thanks again for putting this post together.

I really love your blog!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the post!! It took a while to compile and I went based on scans from ebay to match some photos to issues, so I'm glad it's appreciated. :) I actually (and unbelievably) have never seen an Eye Mag in person, they're just not common in my area. I'm so jealous that you have the John Lennon one - lucky!

Estoy buscando el ejemplar de la revista que trae el poster del Eye Magazine Psychedelic Tarot realizado por J. Cooper con temática de Jim Morrison. Es posible la venta en línea de la revista, en pdf?
