Tell Me About Yourself Award

Okay, I am the luckiest girl in the world. I've received this award from three of my very favorite people/blogs: Nicole, Alexis, and Deborah! Thank you! For this award, you've got to share 7 things about yourself and tell a few of your favorite blogs, who have to do the award as well (if they haven't already).

1. My current goal is to mirror the career/look/life of Mary Travers.

2. I am currently attempting to learn French. (Mostly because of the yé-yé gals!)

3. I'm currently reading Chronicles: Volume 1 by Bob Dylan. I'm convinced that he's one of the coolest people ever.

4. I haven't been to many concerts. VERY few. But the last one I saw was in August - I saw 1964: The Tribute and loved it! Where else can you find teenagers who'll dance to "Twist and Shout" with you?
5. It's no secret that my favorite movie of all time is Singin' In The Rain.

6. I like to pretend that it's 1966. (sigh!)
7. I celebrated October 9th this year. Did you? :)

Let me explain myself...

I've been on a bit of a blogger hiatus. I know, it's terrible! School has officially eaten my brain, and I've found that tumblr is an easier (translation: lazier) alternative to running this blog. Excuses, excuses. My email convos have suffered as well. :( I'm back though, I promise. I just wanted to put this up as a little explanation before I post an award I've received!

(Oh, and while I've been gone, I've cultivated a "famous" -that's not my description, promise!- tumblr called Retro Girl Problems, if ya want to check it out!)

 I've gotta thank the fabulous, not to mention gorgeous, Alexis of Dolly Rocker Girl for giving me the Top Ten Award! (If you aren't following her blog already, make sure to go check it out NOW! Nothing but pure unadulterated retro amazingness over there.)

I'll admit, I am no glamor girl (in fact at the moment I am not wearing a bit of makeup as it is summer and I have a terrible sunburn). But my mother has bred a great love and appreciation of Sephora and Ulta in me, so I'm no stranger to makeup. Here's my top ten (I'm sure you're at the edge of your seat):

1. Neutrogena SkinClearing Mineral Powder in Natural Ivory - Sometimes it's the only makeup I wear.

2. Palladio Baked Eye Shadow Trios in The Blues - Usually blue shadow on blue eyes is frowned upon. What can I say, I'm a rebel.

3. Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Katie - I love the feel of this stuff! I also usually use a nude/light color for lips if I'm gonna use eye makeup. This adorable little German makeover-expert lady showed it to me once and I was hooked.

4. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Dark Brown - Classic mascara, and I use brown because I have light coloration.

5. John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme - My friend gave me some once. Actually, I stole it... :) The stuff is seriously magical!

6. Ulta Pressed Mineral Blush in Tulip - What can I say, I'm a sucker for minerals.

7. Ulta Eye Liner Pencil in Deep Brown - Again, I've gotta use brown eye makeup as opposed to black. I have a love/hate relationship with liner, but a regular brown pencil is my go-to.

8. Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Orange Ginger Energy Lotion - I've loved this stuff for a few years. It's definitely my favorite B&BW scent!

9. Buddha Balm in Mandarin Orange Ginger - I'm proud to say that I discovered this fabulous lip balm in my old hometown's "hippie dippy" store. This flavor kinda reminds me of a Creamsicle, and the packaging and name are WAY more interesting than your generic Chapstick.

10. Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne - My current 'signature scent'. Unfortunately, it doesn't transform me into a glam leather-clad Kate Moss...

Free To Do What I Want Any Old Time

Okay, so in an attempt to keep my blog from being completely barren of new posts and to tell a bit about me (I think I've been mysterious... not) I have taken the Creative Blogger Award from the lovely Kirby. I say "taken" because she kind of left it out in the open for anyone to do. I think I'm somewhat of a creative blogger, so I'm doin' it. Heh.

10 random things about me:

1. I'm what you'd call an "Army brat". That kind of conflicts with my love of '60s idols (the words "flaming liberal" fly around my house a lot, haha).

2. I have pretty recently gone vegetarian. And NO, mother, it is not strictly because of Paul McCartney.

3. I am a Texas girl at heart, and I'm currently moving back. And I don't take a particular joy in cowboy boots/hats/accents, so there's really no explanation!

4. I'm probably younger than you think. But I should have been born in 1945, so no matter.

5. I alternately call John Lennon, Jim Morrison, George Harrison, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger my boyfriend.

6. I'm a complete nerd, and my favorite subject is social studies (history).

7. I play guitar, electric and acoustic. But I prefer acoustic. :)

8. I have seen every episode of Seinfeld. Ever.

9. I keep an autograph from Bono to my mom framed in my room. It says "Love to lovely Tracy - Bono, 1986" but I don't mind.

10. I collect Beatles paraphernalia, books on sixties counterculture, RECORDS, and... thimbles.

I'm Going Up The Country

Hello lovelies-

I probably won't be posting for a bit - two weeks or more (aaaaarrgggghhh!) because I am in the process of packing and moving into a new house. I've been living in a place (Georgia) quite different from where I hail from (Texas) and I'm happily moving back. Well, I'm going to miss my friends here in what I affectionately call Jogia, but that's about it. 
Until I get back to my hard drive on the good ol' Mac, I won't be able to post big photo posts. My mom hates me taking up space on her laptop with photos and my iPhone will only post photos from URLs. Which take forever to load. Ehhh. 
Something to look forward to, though, is the 150+ BEATLES PHOTOS I scanned just before the Internet was disconnected. They're HUGE and fabulous. 
Anywho, have a great summer, bloggy people. :)

Yes!

Last night I scored two Eye magazines off of eBay and Amazon. I feel so lucky! I'll be sure to scan tons of photos when they get here. It might be a while for them to ship, as both are from California and I am in Georgia.
I got volume 1, issues 1 and 6. :)
